Description
One letter from English decorative artist and writer William Morris to William Allingham informing Allingham that he has been out most of the week and could not go out now, but encourages Allingham to vist St. Albans. Morris also shares that he is sad to not be able to go along. Morris mentions Sir Gilbert Scott, the Gothic Revival architect, along with the politician Sir Stafford Northcote. Morris also writes about how a restored building no longer looks like the ancient one, and shares it would pain him to see St. Albans now, restored, as he had seen it pre-restoration several times. In a post-script note, Morris shares that the Anti-Scraps Society is doing well.
