Interpretation | As in the United States, many foods were rationed in Great Britain during the war. These food, and others, were strictly rationed: meat, butter, cooking fats, bacon and ham, cheese, tea, preserves, canned meat, canned fish, canned beans, dried fruit, canned peas, canned tomatoes, canned milk, breakfast cereals, crackers, and candy. Supplies of milk, eggs, and oranges were restricted, so they were reserved for children under the age of five. |
