In this note to Bronson Murray, Turner recites W.H. Powell's thoughts on Turner and his political efforts. "Our American civilization demands a more [] and liberal system. We must educate the whole people as the only enduring foundation upon which our republican Instutituions can rest." At the bottom of the letter, Turner writes, "Mr. Powell states in this letter to me that the above extract was in reply to a letter from the 'Prof. of one of our colleges.'
