Interpretation
Many young men, some as young as 14 or 15, lied about their age and enlisted in the Army during the Civil War. Private Jennison, a member of a Georgia infantry regiment, was killed at Malvern Hill, Virginia in 1862. The battle at Malvern Hill was part of the Richmond Campaign of 1862 - the Seven Days battle.
