Interpretation | Many men enlisting for service during World War II had nutriiton-related problems which kept them from serving in the military. During the war, Congress originated the school lunch program to meet the needs of the U.S. military and ensure tht future soldiers were healthier. After the war, on June 4, 1946 President Harry Truman signed the National School Lunch Act into law. |
