Interpretation | This poster indicates a number of jobs that were available in factories that were geared to war production. After Pearl Harbor industry in the United States rapidly transformed into maximum war production. The War Production Board was established in January 1942 and abolished in November 1945. Its purpose was to procure materials and direct war production during World War II. Some of the materials this massive war production machine produced: 299,300 planes 143,700 ships 41,000,000,000 rounds of ammunition 86,700 tanks 319,000 pieces of field artillery and mortars (Source: Watters, Mary.
