Oil on unstretched, cut canvas, taupe background. Back unmarked; canvas not numbered. Attached on one edge to posterboard on which is written in ink: "2337" and "Notropis whipplii (?)." In pencil on the canvas beneath the image: "(new name) Notropis whipplii? No. 1" and "Luxilus analostenus Peoria, Ill. Aug. 7, 1898." Appears to have been cropped--which may have cut off the top front edge of the dorsal fin.
