Description | Letter. "Wednesday Night./March 11, 1846./Friend Lincoln./Your epistle of 8... (letter of two paragraphs follows).../Yours Infinitely/ David ___ckin__on." On the address side of the folio, "A. Lincoln Esq/Springfield/Illinois." In the upper left corner is a round postmark "Lacon/Mar/18/ILL." There is no writing on the interior of the folio. H 9 1/2" x W 7 5/8". |
Interpretation | The contents of the letter relate to the need for a political convention. The letter itself was recovered from the walls of the Lincoln Home during the 1987-1988 restoration. |
