Interpretation | Many men enlisting for service during World War II had nutrition-related problems which kept them from serving in the military. During the war, the U.S. Department of Agriculture developed the "basic 7" food groups to help ensure that future soldiers were healthier. On the home front, keeping healthy and fit was important for all citizens in order to keep the war effort moving forward to victory. |
