Description | Print of George Washington mounted on a white horse. Washington is lifting a cap over his head. Horse and background are white, ground below is green. In background is Washington's army. Washington is dressed in a blue uniform with gold epaulets. Saddle is leather color with yellow fringe. Below print is written "Gen. George Washington, Father of His Country." L 13 1/2" x W 9 1/2 |
Interpretation | This print was used as decoration in the boys' room of the Lincoln Home. Washington continued to be a popular figure 50 years after his death. It was typical to have images of people you admired in your home. |
