Description
This 1914 plowing contest featured tractors that competed as hundreds of spectators watched.
Interpretation
Competitions were one way that McLean County farmers celebrated their work. A plowing contest was not uncommon.

Plowing contests were popular attractions. This one was held in 1914. Arthur Moore remarked that there was nothing like the sound of an engine to attract farmers. (MCHS)
