Let’s Be Ready! That’s “The Spirit of ‘76” Verse: Some want peace and notes they will write for it. Others want it so bad they’ll fight for it. Peace at any price May be good advice, But our fore fathers thought a different way. Just remember you’re an American, Don’t forget that they were the very men Who fought side by side, And gladly died To put us where we are today. So, Refrain: Let’s be ready, Let’s be ready, that’s the spirit of seventy‐six. And if they decide to begin it then, We’ll be on the job like the minute men, Down in Lexington, Just like Washington. One for all and all for one. No more riot, Peace and quiet, That may be a wonderful plan. But, if they force us into war, There’s lots here worth fighting for, So let’s be ready, Strong and steady, that’s the spirit of seventy six.
