One letter from William Allingham's half-brother and bank manager, Hugh Allingham to Helen Allingham, expressing his delight in receiving a letter from Helen. Hugh writes that the Allingham family moved to the Ballyshannon area during the Elizabethan time, and their descendant "Hugh Allingham," appears in local records from that time. Hugh mentions that the Allingham family was established in the area prior to Ulster Platation. Hugh also writes that his father was for a time a merchant, carrying lumber from America and Norway, as well as wine from Spain.
