Description | One letter from William Allingham's half-brother and bank manager, Hugh Allingham to Helen Allingham, writing regarding a clipping of "George Champan's further remarks in 'J.P's Weekly,'" which Hugh writes regarding a plagiarism claim. Hugh also answers Helen's questions regarding "Hedge Schools," which Hugh explains have not existed in more than a century and were instructed by traveling schoolmasters. Hugh mentions a friend of his, a Mr. Lewis W. Harwood, and provides an address for him in London, and writes that he comes from a respectable family who own property in Ballyshannon. There is no signature from Hugh, and the letter ends abruptly suggesting this letter is incomplete. |
