| Description | One drawing by British portrait artist and illustrator Sydney Prior Hall to Helen Allingham. Paper contains two prelimary sketches, labeled as "Sketch by Sydney Hall." First drawing is titled "Running Turk," and is accompanied by the address for 15 Regents Sq. Drawing depicts a soldier mid-stride accompanied by a horse, which the solider is leading by the bridle. The second drawing is titled "Soldiers orphan girls waiting to see the fight of today (Thursday." Sketch shows a group of girls wearing bonnets in the foreground, and facing a ridge in the distance. Hall writes below the sketch, "shift shawls brown dresses." Drawings could be related to Hall's work during the Franco-Prussian war. |
