Interpretation | Smaller farmsteads, such as that of Sholty's son, are shown at the top of the figure. Because farmers had to pay to have their portraits or buildings drawn, small farms are not often shown. Sholty's other farmsteads give some idea of what life was like further down the economic ladder. |
