The Stars and Stripes for Me Verse: Faraway upon a battle field at sunset mid the turmoil and the roar of shot and shell, There her own dear boy in blue is bravely fighting, he is fighting for the flag we love so well. Gamely fighting for the cause of Uncle Sammy, to the only flag that floats he would be true, The good old stars and stripes will live forever, there is no flag like the old red white and blue. Refrain: Then it’s fight for the grand old banner that waves o’er the land of the free, And the good old American eagle the emblem of liberty, The red, white, and blue means protections where ever you may be, So it’s fight for the grand old flag we love, the stars and the stripes for me. Verse: When the sun had set, the smoke of battle lifted, and the darkness settled o’er them where they lay, In the city many anxious hearts were aching, for the boys in blue who died to save the day.
