When the Boys Come Sailing Home Verse: Far across the deep blue ocean, in the khaki uniform, Our brave lads now are waiting, they have faced the battle’s storm
To meet the friends and dear ones here across the briny foam. They turned the tide of battle and they’ll soon be sailing home. Refrain: And when the boys come home from “over there” across the sea, A joyous greeting waits for them, like none other there can be. A wife, a sweetheart true or a mother waits alone. But we’ll all be by their side when the boys come sailing home. Verse: We stood by our soldiers fighting far across the ocean blue, We loaned our money freely we did all that we could do. They entered with the war clouds dark and all seem’d in dismay. They swiftly pushed the war clouds back and turned night into day. Refrain Verse: Words cannot express our feelings, well we know it’s quite true. We’ve kept our home-fires burning while their duty they did do. We’re proud that we may meet them and we’re proud that they can
