Stand Behind the Man behind the Gun Verse: Mothers and sisters and sweethearts and wives, awake to your country’s call, Your Sammies have gallantly offered their live. And. Can you do nothing at all? There’s much to be done by the “stay at home” folk so our boys may win in the fight, Then let us get busy and fall into line, and help in this battle for right. Refrain: Sammies, Sammies, boys of the red white and blue, Boys of the best land underneath the sun, oh! We’ll learn to knit, or pack a kit, Ev’rywhere we’ll do our bit, and stand behind the man behind the gun, Oh, and stand behind the man behind the gun oh! Verse: Women of Italy England and France, have shown us the way to do. Shall we be the “slackers” and not do our part, bring shame on the red, white, and blue? We’ll ask for no medals of iron or gold, but just wear the little Red Cross To show to the nation were “Doing our bit,” and willing to help bear the loss. Refrain
