The Statue of Liberty is Smiling Verse: Standing down by the day, In her grand array, Liberty is watching there today. For her heroes, khaki clad, And ev’ry sailor lad, Their glorious, victorious, returning makes her glad. Her light is seen three thousand miles away. The guardian angel of the U.S.A. Refrain: Now the Statue of Liberty is smiling As she gazes across the sea. And the gleam of her glance lights the way back from France, The beacon light of victory. Her torch of freedom burning, will brighten the miles To make their glad returning a bright lane of smiles. For the Statue of Liberty is smiling, On the hearts of the world today. Verse: Goddess of the light, Daughter of the right, Emblematic of the nations might. In her universal fame, We voice her noble fame. So dutiful, beautiful, the glory of her flame. Triumphantly her banner is unfurled, The virgin benefactress of the world. Refrain
