Description
One letter from the daughter of George Petrie and probable landscape painter, Mary A. (Marianne) Petrie to William Allingham writing that Allingham may be disappointed in finding that this letter bear her signature and not her fathers. Petrie writes that while her father is absent it is her duty to read and answer his correspondence. She informs Allingham that her father is in Scotland , and expresses that it is a treat to have the house free of any male presence. She signs her name "Mary A. Petrie" upon concluding her letter. Paper contains a partial watermark reading, C Harris Superfine 1856.
