Title | Atl-atl weight |
Description | The atl-atl weight was a spear thrower used by the Archaic Indians for hunting animals. It was made of stone. Archaic Indians also supplemented their food supply by gathering nuts, berries, herbs and roots. |
Interpretation | The atl-atl weight was attached to the atl-atl, or spear. It is believed to have functioned as a counterbalance, allowing the hunter to propel his spear with greater accuracy and force. |
