From border to border from lakes to the sea the call went forth to arms! To arms! There is drumming and drilling and marching for all the dauntless lads it begins at the call of the bugle with the sun on the earth’s wide rim and the heart of the great republic is beating a battle hymn. For it is my land and your land no matter whether right or wrong our foe men or traitors we’ll fight a hundred million strong And this shall be our name in story we fought for home for love for glory freedom God and right from border to border from lakes to the sea the lassies are praying today For the darling brave lads who sailed away to fight for victory dark and drear is the dawn since they have gone nor is the noon day ever fair for the loyal hearts waiting till the lads come back from “Over there.”
