A circular entitled "Agency for the Location of Military Land Warrants, in Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois" in which John W. Taylor advertises land "in a section of the country that is rapidly filling up with enterprising citizens and fast increasing in value." This land was offered specifically to "the surviving, or the widow or minor children of deceased commissioned officers, musicians, or privates" who served in the military in the War of 1812. This circular was distributed in Rockford, Illinois in January 1851.
