Description
David Homer Bates, a member of the U.S. Military Telegraph Corps., wrote this letter to James R.B. Van Cleave, providing Van Cleave with a copy of Bates' biography of Abraham Lincon, Lincoln in the Telegraph Office, and recommending the Van Cleave contact Charles Tinker and Albert B. Charles for more personal accounts of Abraham Lincoln. Bates also expresses preference for the Lincoln tribute by Charles Tinker over the "Perfect Tribute" by Mary Raymond Shipman Andrews.
