On the evening of April 14, 1865, John Wilkes Booth fired this small derringer into the back of Abraham Lincoln’s head, inflicting a mortal wound. Lincoln was attending a play at Ford's Theater. The gun is on exhibit at the Ford’s Theater Museum in Washington D.C., a National Park Service site.

Postcard featuring a view of the Lincoln Home between 1895 and 1906. The postcard was created in California in 1920. A large elm tree with only one main branch is in front of the home. A striped awning covers the front door and a plaque is visible just to the right of the door. Heavy vegetation and an urn decorate the front yard. Unused. L 5 1/2" x W 3 1/2".
