Baker Memorial Library, Dartmouth College, Hanover, N. H. This handsome library is one of the finest buildings in New Hampshire. In the tower are 16 bells ranging in weight from 20 pounds to 3 tons. The 7-foot high weather-vane at the top of the spire represents President Wheelock, Dartmouth's founder, instructing an Indian under a pine tree. Photo by Don Sieburg

Baker Memorial Library at Dartmouth College is one of the most noteworthy architectural works in New Hampshire. The design of the building suggests Independence Hall in Philadelphia combined with the graceful spire characteristic of early New Hampshire churches.

THE STATE LIBRARY, Concord, New Hampshire, The State Library, opposite the State House, was dedicated January 8, 1895. It was built principally of red Conway granite, and houses the Supreme Court, Law Library, and genera library facilities.
