    Image | Sjoerd Koopman Library Postcard CollectionThe New Library was erected in 1896-97, and was a sesquicentennial gift. It forms a hollow quadrangle 160 feet square, and it united with the Chancellor Green Library. In 1760, when the first pamphlet of Princeton's Library was published, the number of volumes owned was 1800; in 1904, the number was 183,000, the full capacity of the shelves being 1,200,000.
