Sjoerd Koopman Library Postcard Collection
The New Library was erected in 1896-97, and was a sesquicentennial gift. It forms a hollow quadrangle 160 feet square, and it united with the Chancellor Green Library. In 1760, when the first pamphlet of Princeton's Library was published, the number of volumes owned was 1800; in 1904, the number was 183,000, the full capcacity of the shelves being 1,200,000.

The Public Library Civic Center was erected in 1916 at a cost of $1,300,000, $500,000 of which was from the fund given by Andrew Carnegie. The building is of Granite, 190x305 feet, and from the designs of Geo. W. Kelham. It contains 500,000 volumes and has special rooms for Music, Art, Reference and Reading.
