A letter to Sophronia McNitt from Patrick Moynihan, a private in the 9th Illinois Volunteer Infantry. Moynihan wrote about the weather, moving from Acworth, Georgia, to Big Shanty, and recent fighting and troop movements. He speculated that there would be a battle over Kinesaw Mountain and compared it to Lookout Mountain at Chattanooga.
