Champaign High school was located at 306 W. Green St. for 42 years (opened in 1914) until 1957, when it became Edison Junior High. The building’s architectural style is described as “Imposing Greek” beaux arts classical revival. Memorial Stadium was built in 1923 by the firm of Holibard and Roche. The stadium was originally planned for tennis, baseball, field hockey, etc. The structure has 182 pillars, honoring the 182 students that died in World War I. The stadium was Geoge Huff’s dream. The total cost of Memorial Stadium was $2 million and today the stadium holds roughly 70,000 people.

Harker Hall is the oldest and arguably the most charming building still standing on the University of Illinois campus. Harker Hall was built in 1878. When first built, it was a chemical laboratory. It is now home to the U of I Foundation. In 1896, a fire destroyed most of the interior of Harker Hall. From 1902 to 1926, it housed the College of Law.
