The Petersen rooming house was across the street from Ford’s Theater. Lincoln was carried there after he was shot. He lived through the night and died early the next morning.

On the evening of April 14, 1865, John Wilkes Booth fired this small derringer into the back of Abraham Lincoln’s head, inflicting a mortal wound. Lincoln was attending a play at Ford's Theater. The gun is on exhibit at the Ford’s Theater Museum in Washington D.C., a National Park Service site.

Rococo-revival style (ornately carved furniture popular in the mid 1800s) upholstered sofa that belonged to the Abraham Lincoln family. Sofa is covered in black horsehair (modern but based on original material). The wood frame is made from mahogany. It is 82 1/2" long, 38 1/4" tall, and 20" deep.

Single-stick girandole candelabra, with marble base, turned bronze pedestal support, branched stem. cast-bronze priece with flowers and pair of turtle dove designs. Veneered work table. Rectangular base with carved scroll bracket feet, pedestal supporting top is rectangular post, narrowing toward top. Two drawers under nearly square top, each drawer is concave with two circular wooden knobs. Drawers are stacked to form box under top, while top projects over box slightly.
