A letter to Sophronia McNitt from Patrick Moynihan, a private in the 9th Illinois Volunteer Infantry. Moynihan wrote about the weather, moving from Acworth, Georgia, to Big Shanty, and recent fighting and troop movements. He speculated that there would be a battle over Kinesaw Mountain and compared it to Lookout Mountain at Chattanooga.

A letter to Sophronia McNitt from Patrick Moynihan, a private in the 9th Illinois Volunteer Infantry. Moynihan wrote about being on the march from Pulaski to Kingston and soon to Georgia, noting that he had seen several battles and skirmishes along the way and was nearly killed by shell fire.
